Traditional Braces in Columbus, Ohio

More than straighter teeth — braces designed around your face, your function, and your future.

Precision Treatment With Time-Tested Results

Traditional braces remain one of the most effective orthodontic tools available, not because they’re simple, but because when used with expert planning, they offer unmatched control over tooth movement, jaw alignment, and facial balance.

At Wigal & Kluemper Orthodontics, traditional braces are never a generic, cookie-cutter solution. Every treatment plan begins with a comprehensive evaluation of your facial structure, bite function, and long-term health goals. The result is a plan built around you, not a template.

Whether you’re a parent exploring options for your child, a teenager ready to start treatment, or an adult looking to improve your bite and facial harmony, traditional braces can be a highly effective path forward.

Benefits of Traditional Braces

Traditional braces do far more than align teeth. Here’s what expert-guided treatment can achieve:

Precise Control Over Complex Cases

For patients with significant crowding, spacing issues, bite discrepancies, or jaw misalignment, traditional braces offer a level of precision that’s difficult to match. Your treatment is guided by clinical expertise, so adjustments are made with your facial balance and functional outcomes in mind at every stage.

Treatment That Supports Facial Harmony

The goal of orthodontic treatment at Wigal & Kluemper isn’t just straight teeth — it’s a face that works together. Traditional braces allow for careful management of tooth position, jaw relationship, and lip support, all of which contribute to how your face looks and functions long term.

A Reliable, Proven Path for All Ages

Traditional braces are effective for children, teens, and adults. For younger patients, they can work alongside growth to guide jaw development and support healthy airway function. For teens and adults, they deliver consistent, predictable outcomes that hold up over time.

FAQs On Clear Ceramic Braces

Have questions about starting your treatment? Here is what you need to know about clear braces and what to expect during your treatment journey.

Am I too old to get braces?

Absolutely not! There’s no age limit for improving your smile. Many adults choose traditional braces to correct long-standing alignment issues or bite problems, especially if they’re unhappy with the appearance of their smiles.

As long as your teeth and gums are healthy, braces can work effectively at any age. At Wigal & Kluemper Orthodontics, we create custom treatment plans for every patient, regardless of age. In fact, adult patients often see fantastic results because they’re more consistent with care and follow-up visits. So, whether you’re 17 or 70, it’s never too late to invest in a healthier, straightened smile.

It is possible, but the practicality of it depends on your unique bite and alignment. In some cases, treating just one arch (top or bottom) can correct minor cosmetic concerns. However, for more complex bite issues, most people benefit from treating both arches at once. This ensures that your teeth are properly aligned at the end of your treatment and the results last.

When you arrive for your consultation, we’ll perform a detailed evaluation to decide what’s best for your smile and function. If single-arch treatment is an option, we’ll explain the benefits and risks so you can make an informed choice.

Once your braces come off, the next step is retention. This means wearing a retainer to keep your teeth in their new positions. Without it, your smile may slowly shift back, undoing the progress you’ve made.

Once your treatment is complete, we’ll provide a custom retainer and instructions on how and when to wear it. We might also schedule a few follow-up visits with you so we can monitor your results.

The day your braces come off should be an exciting event without worrying about more work ahead. But don’t think of wearing a retainer as more treatment—it’s just a precaution to keep your smile looking great for years to come!

Treatment times vary, but most patients wear traditional braces for 18 to 24 months. Some mild cases may take as little as a year, while complex issues might take up to three years. It all just depends on your needs.

At Wigal & Kluemper Orthodontics, we’ll give you a personalized estimate after your initial consultation. The length of your treatment depends on several factors, including the severity of your case, your age, and how closely you follow care instructions. Regular checkups and good hygiene habits can help you stay on track and even finish faster!
